The appointment is part of the broader strategic vision of the Ski Association of Slovenia, led by its President Luka Steiner, which is based on the active involvement of former elite athletes in the organisational and leadership structures of Slovenian skiing.
The appointment of Peter Prevc represents a natural continuation of the development of Planica as the central symbol of Slovenian ski jumping and ski flying. A former top-level athlete, winner of the Overall World Cup title and World Champion, Prevc has been closely connected to Planica throughout his life—both as a competitor and as an ambassador of the values of Slovenian sport.

Peter Prevc is the new presidet of OC Planica 2026.
President of the Ski Association of Slovenia, Luka Steiner, emphasised upon the appointment:“Planica is more than a competition venue—it is part of Slovenian national identity. I am pleased that the leadership of the Organising Committee is being taken over by Peter Prevc, who understands Planica, feels it deeply, and enjoys great trust from the sporting public. I am confident that with his energy, credibility, and expertise, he will make an important contribution to the successful delivery of Planica 2026 and to the further development of this unique project.”
Upon assuming the role, the new President of the Planica 2026 Organising Committee, Peter Prevc, said:“Planica means a great deal to me—it gave me the greatest moments of my sporting career, and today I experience it from a different perspective. It is both an honour and a responsibility to take on the role of President of the Organising Committee. Together with an experienced team, we want to continue the story built on top-level organisation, respect for tradition, and the creation of an unforgettable experience for athletes, fans, and partners.”
The FIS Ski Jumping World Cup Final in Planica will take place from 26 to 29 March on the Letalnica bratov Gorišek ski flying hill, and will, for the first time, also include a women’s competition.
