Marius Lindvik won silver, finishing 59.5 points behind, while Ren Nikaido took bronze with a 63-point deficit. Anže Lanišek placed eighth after a final jump of 212.5 meters. Post-competition statements

Domen Prevc:
“The feelings are phenomenal. This is something you work for over many years. You build sensations and experience for a long time. This year we were twice in the wind tunnel. This is confirmation of hard work and that we were heading in the right direction together with the coaching staff, who make sure the equipment is on the safe side. Skis, suits, boots – everything works. A lot of things have to come together for results like this.”

“I didn’t watch Vikersund 16 years ago because I had training. I watched my brother Peter at Kulm – he had a similar issue as I did, during the flight when the right ski drifted a bit. But he had enough speed to carry it through to victory.”

“My technical assessment of the jumps: the first jump was okay, with a slightly rough mistake – too aggressive. The second was more solid. The third was pure enjoyment – the one you work for. The fourth needed a bit more patience, similar to the first, but still enough for final joy.”

“As soon as I landed, I said: OK, this is done, now tomorrow we have another challenge – to prove ourselves as a team. I’ll need two really good jumps, because it will be demanding. The other teams – Norwegians, Japanese, Austrians – showed really nice jumps, so I expect a tough competition.”

Robert Hrgota:
“Watching Domen fly on the ski flying hill is pure poetry. He plays with the wind and speed. There’s no need to complicate things – just enjoy the moment and encourage him to continue in this rhythm.”

“We’ll see what happens in the team competition. The guys know they are capable of great things. They are defending the gold medal from the previous World Championships. If nothing else, we will fight until the very last jump – anything is possible. Our task is to prepare them physically and mentally to go into battle and defend the gold.”

“There is a lot of work behind everything, involving many people. The system has to function well so that we can deliver everything at the highest level to the athletes – and it’s up to them to make the most of it. There is no secret. You have to work on the basics and on yourself all year long and hope it pays off in the end.”
