Controller of International Ski Association (FIS) Sepp Gratzer has visited the site of Ski Flying World Championships which is going to take place from 18th till 21st of March in under the Ponce valley. After the inspection of the works that have been recently made on the flying hill and after the snow condition evaluation he turned on the green light for the largest slovenian sporting festival. This decision also means that the flying hill received a new certificate, since the old one expired on the 31st of December 2009.

Preparations for the Ski Flying World Championships, which will begin with qualifications on the 18th of March and with the opening ceremony in Kranjska Gora on the same day, are running according to plans. Jelko Gros, chief of competition, said: "Everything is running according to schedule. The flying hill is being shaped with machines. We have to much snow, three to five thousand cubic meters, therefore it has to be removed in the following days. Considering the weather forecast and the possible thaw, which may occur during competition, we will make a calculation for how high we will leave the snow."

Competition for the world champion title awaits the competitors on Friday and Saturday, and on Sunday team event will be held. Large accompanying programme will be going on in Planica and Kranjska Gora, where OK Planica will, in collaboration with municipality Kranjska Gora, prepare a cheering village with entertainment programme from Thursday morning till Sunday evening. Advanced ticket sale is already under way in all of the Kompas offices in Slovenia and abroad.  Till today more than 440 journalist from all over the world made a request for accreditation.
