Final programme for the upcoming World Championships in Planica is announced

FIS, together with the 2023 Nordic World Ski Championships Planica Organizing Committee, is pleased to announce the final program for the upcoming World Championships.

The World Championships will kick off with the Opening Ceremony on February 21 at 20:23 and span through two weeks, closing with the men's Cross-Country 50 km race on March 5. During that time 24 medal competitions will take place in the three FIS Nordic disciplines. Cross-Country will have 12 medal competitions, Ski Jumping features seven, while Nordic Combined will stage five medal competitions. Special mention goes to the debut of the Nordic Combined Mixed Team Event as a World Championship medal event.

All competitions will take place at the state-of-the-art Planica venue, which features top technical facilities, jumping hills and cross-country tracks for all athletes. It was discussed to have the 30 km and 50 km women's and men's Cross-Country races between neighbouring Tarvisio (ITA) and Planica as the first-ever cross-border event at the Nordic World Ski Championships. However, after considering the sustainability implications, logistical aspects and energy consumption of staging the competitions, it was determined to keep all races within the Planica venue.
