FIS Ski Jumping Continental Cup in Planica

In February 2022, a fairytale was written by Slovenian athletes in Beijing as ski jumpers Lovro Kos, Cene Prevc, Timi Zajc and Peter Prevc became Olympic champions and runner-ups, but now it is time to get ready for another winter spectacle, held every year in beautiful Planica.

This year the Brother's Gorišek flying hill will once again host the FIS Ski Jumping World Cup Finals which will take place from 24th to 27th March 2022. Even earlier, this weekend to be exact, a fierce fight for the podium in the FIS Continental Cup in men's ski jumping will take place on the 139-meter hill. In total thirteen Slovenian jumpers will compete this weekend: Tilen Bartol, Domen Prevc, Jan Bombek, Žak Mogel, Patrik Vitez, Bor Pavlovčič, Matija Vidic, Ernest Prišlič, Rok Oblak and Matevž Samec. The first competition is scheduled to be on Saturday, February 26th 2022 at 5 p.m, followed by the next on Sunday, February 27th 2022 at 10.15 a.m.

In less than a year, a new chapter in Slovenian sports history will be written in Planica, as it will be hosting the FIS Nordic World Ski Championship for the first time ever where only the best winter athletes will compete for the medals. The ski jumping competitions will take place on the 102- and 139-meter hills. Winter fans will also be able to watch nordic combined and cross-country competitions alongdside ski jumping.
