Austria wins, Slovenia fourth

Early in the morning, a long line of moving vehicles was slowly approaching Planica. Everybody wanted to see the masters of ski jumping at work. At the same time, Slovenian fans naturally hopped for some good results from their ski jumpers. We knew we could expect a good competition, after seeing some good jumps in the trial round, 11 teams had great conditions to work with. The official count of all the spectators today was about 22 000 and they didn't have to wait long to see the first distance over 200 meters by Jurij Tepeš in the trial round (203,5m).

Robert Kranjec, the winner of yesterdays competition, achieved the longest distance of the day in the first round, he landed at 231,0 meters. But this was still not enough for the Slovenian team (Jurij Tepeš, Jaka Hvala, Jure Šinkovec and Robert Kranjec), who came in 4th place at the end of this team competition. Austrian team was doing a fine job today, Thomas Morgenstern, Andreas Kofler, Gregor Schlierenzauer and Martin Koch made some solid jumps and they took the 1st place. Norwegian team (Rune Velta, Anders Fannemel, Bjoern Einar Romoeren, Anders Bardal) took the 2nd place, followed by the Germans (Maximilian Mechler, Severin Freund, Andreas Wank, Richard Freitag) in 3rd.
